Main shopping area

The main shopping area is located near the Heuvelpoort car park. It’s the ideal place to start your visit to Tilburg. Visit the theatre, the 013 music venue or the cinema; enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the dozens of pubs and restaurants; and shop till you drop at the countless shops!

Shopaholics are sure to find plenty to enjoy in Tilburg’s main shopping district. In Heuvelstraat, you’ll find the well-known retail chains: from Hema and Blokker to fashion boutiques such as H&M and ZARA. The big names are also well represented on the adjacent Pieter Vreedeplein, where you’ll find, amongst other things, a large Media Markt store.
Entrepreneurship with a true Tilburg flavour
However, the main shopping area also has some surprises in store with its authentic local businesses. How about Gianotten Mutsaers bookshop, for example? A true Tilburg institution and brimming with passion! Take a seat at the reading table, order a cup of coffee (one of the best in the city) and enjoy the buzz of the shop. Meanwhile, pop-up shops are adding extra buzz to Tilburg’s city centre. Creative entrepreneurs have, amongst other places, set up a retail space in the refurbished Emmapassage featuring a collection of handcrafted items: jewellery, robust interior pieces and small works of art are all on sale there.
Always on the move
The main shopping area is undergoing development. Investment is currently being made in a new shopping circuit. New retail spaces are being built around the town hall, which will give the area a further boost.
More than just shopping
Incidentally, the main shopping district offers more than just a shopping experience. As well as shops, Tilburg city centre is home to, amongst other things, the Pathé cinema with no fewer than seven modern screens. You can also enjoy a live concert in the city centre at the south’s premier pop venue: 013, or pay a visit to the theatre or the colourful concert hall.
Time for a bite to eat and a drink!
All that shopping is bound to make you hungry! Of course, the city centre wouldn’t be complete without some great places to eat and drink. Around the centrally located Heuvelplein, you’ll find plenty of variety. Grab a scoop of ice cream (or two) at one of the ice-cream parlours, pop into one of the cosy eateries, or on summer days, settle down at one of the outdoor terraces on the Heuvel, the Korte Heuvel or the Piusplein. The various restaurants are the perfect place for a delicious brunch or lunch. From a midday snack or a toasted sandwich to a proper club sandwich, there’s something for everyone.
Discover even more of Tilburg

In short, the main shopping district is the ideal base for your visit to Tilburg. From the city centre, you can also easily visit the other distinctive neighbourhoods that characterise Tilburg. The industrial Spoorzone, the bustling Piushaven or the dynamic Dwaalgebied are all just a stone’s throw away from the central Heuvelplein.
